    What did you do before you arrived at Civium? I was a fulltime Mum before I arrived at Civium Strata, I also worked on the weekends in retail.

    Why did you join Civium? I found Civium to be the perfect work – life balance. I also love the great people that work for Civium.

    What is the most satisfying part of your job? I love being able to build relationships with clients.

    Outside of work, what is the thing that most interests you? Friends, family & gardening.

     

  • Caroline Mitchell

    What did you do before you arrived at Civium? This covers a lot of years, but just before, I worked with Colliers International in Commercial Property Management and Leasing. I have had several of my own businesses including being the owner and property manager of my own commercial property, and being a Property Developer.

    Why did you join Civium? I was offered a strata management role and decided it would be interesting and challenging.

    What is the most satisfying part of your job? Helping owners and committees in the smooth operations of their strata plan, often this involves solving historical problems, but it is always pleasing to turn things around and know that your efforts are appreciated.

    Outside of work, what is the thing that most interests you? Anything outdoors:- walking, gardening, horse riding, mountain climbing…

    What did you do before you arrived at Civium? I was a Carpenter.

    Why did you join Civium? Previously CUPS – I was interested in a career in property and I joined as a Strata Manager as this seemed like a good entry level position.

    What is the most satisfying part of your job? Covering new territory in complex areas of strata that have not yet been done.

    Outside of work, what is the thing that most interests you? Travel.

    What did you do before you arrived at Civium? I worked as a Compliance Manager in STM (Strata Title Management), previous to that I was working as solicitor in Italy.

    Why did you join Civium? I share the values and the goals set by the company.

    What is the most satisfying part of your job? Delivering excellent customer service and helping in the resolution of issues, especially when they related to repairs and maintenance, as these are the things that became a reason of frustration for strata owners.

    Outside of work, what is the thing that most interests you? I am currently studying law part-time, and when I have spare time I like swimming.

  • Doug O’Mara
    Managing Director

    Doug has over 16 years experience in Real Estate Agency having held Senior Executive positions over this period with CBRE, Colliers International and Knight Frank prior to founding Ray White Commercial Canberra in 2003.

    Since establishing the Ray White Commercial, Doug has sold in excess of $200 million commercial and industrial real estate including 40 Maquarie Street, Barton for $24.25 million and $25.6 million within a month of settling the first sale, 217 Northbourne Avenue for $10.65 million, 34-42 Sheppard Street, Hume for $12.3 million, Blocks A-D Trevor Pearcey House Bruce for $9.7 million, 217 Northbourne Avenue in Turner for $9.1 million, 11 National Cct, Barton for $7.3 million, 32 Corinna Street, Woden for $7.1 million, 9 Thynne Street, Bruce for $5.5 million, 32 Thynne Street, Bruce for $4.9 million, 189 Gladstone Street, Fyshwick for $4.53 million, Borrowdale House in Woden for $4.1 million and 32 Corrina Street in Woden for $4 million, Borrowdale House Woden for $4 million, as well as a significant number of sales under $4million.

    Doug has built a strong and enviable reputation for property syndication within the Canberra market place and through Ray White Commercial investor and client base, has been involved in the Syndication of $70 million worth of Canberra real estate since 2004. In addition Doug has also coordinated the leasing of over 200,000 square metres of new lettings in the past five years representing over $80 million in annual rent for his clients.

    Doug has also been involved in prestige real estate in 2010, having negotiated the highest price ever sold in the ACT for 27 Mugga Way, Red Hill and a number of other significant sales over $1.5 million.

    In 2008, Doug was appointed ACT Chief Executive by Ray White Chairman, Brian White and established the residential agency network in ACT. In the past two years he has been responsible for the integration of Canberra Units Plan Services, the merger and acquisition of four real estate businesses, the establishment of six offices and today manages one the ACTs largest real estate groups leading a team of excess of120 real estate professionals.

    What did you do before you arrived at Civium? Worked as a Strata Manager with another company. Prior to that I was in the Insurance Industry for 38 years

    Why did you join Civium? I wanted to get back to Insurance and this position combinds both Insurance and Strata.

    What is the most satisfying part of your job? Being able to finalise Insurance claims for those unfortunate enough to have to make a claim.

    Outside of work, what is the thing that most interests you? I enjoy rugby league, soccer, rugby union and spending time with family and friends.

    What did you do before you arrived at Civium? I worked as a Strata Manager in Newcastle NSW.

    Why did you join Civium? I moved to Canberra to provide family support of my son who is studying at ANU. I wanted to work in Strata and believed Civium Strata was the best place for me.

    What is the most satisfying part of your job? I love the feeling of accomplishing positive outcomes for my Owners Corporation.

    Outside of work, what is the thing that most interests you? I have an interest in studying History/Ancient History

    What did you do before you arrived at Civium? I have previously worked as a Property Manager and prior to that a Building Manager.

    Why did you join Civium? I joined Civium to start work in Strata as it was more inline with my skill set and interests, i saw Civium (Ray White) as an established brand with a strong foundation.

    What is the most satisfying part of your job? Helping people and getting results.

    Outside of work, what is the thing that most interests you? Computer games, and driving.

  • Jarrod Smith
    Strata Division Manager

    What did you do before you arrived at Civium? Before I began my career at Civium I worked as a Terminations Officer for novated car leases to Government employees. Starting out as a new lease provider, later transitioning into a Terminations Officer handling residual payouts. This involved auctioning vehicles, organising direct payout of the residual valve of the vehicle or privately selling on behalf of the Government employee.

    Why did you join Civium? I joined Civium to begin a career in an industry that is a fast paced environment with being responsible for handling a person’s most important asset(s). Civium promotes a great family like culture, an opportunity to grow and learn under a company structure that supported your ambitions at each step of the way and often provides new opportunities that is best suited to the employee. Civium encourage innovation, internal promotion and leadership from some of the best in the industry. 

    What is the most satisfying part of your job? On a daily basis as a Division Manager I am faced with many complicated situations to which I am relied upon to provide advice and guidance to internal staff and external clients. The satisfaction comes when situations are resolved successfully and in the best interest of those affected, coupled with the fact that Civium at every opportunity show their commitment and support to internal staff and external clients as if it were their investment or home in which they owned and were apart of. 

    Outside of work, what is the thing that most interests you? My interests outside of work relate to Djing at various local clubs at every opportunity and being as active as possible with either the gym, sports & bodyboarding at my former home, the coast.

    What did you do before you arrived at Civium? I was an Apprentice Electrician.

    Why did you join Civium? It was a new challenge to have a job in an office and providing customer service as apposed to doing a trade.

    What is the most satisfying part of your job? When owners are happy with the service provided, I am happy.

    Outside of work, what is the thing that most interests you? I enjoy football in the winter, and anything outdoors in the summer including camping, four wheel driving and going to the beach.

    What did you do before you arrived at Civium? Previous to working for Civium Strata People I was working within the property industry for another business and studying Interior Design. I have always had a strong attraction to property of all sorts.

    Why did you join Civium? I joined Civium Strata People because of the people and promise of great things to come, I’m pleased to say that years later I still love the people I work with as well as enjoy the exciting and challenging work.

    What is the most satisfying part of your job? Helping people!

    Outside of work, what is the thing that most interests you? Getting out seeing and doing things, working with community groups and enjoying my passion for all things vintage.

    What did you do before you arrived at Civium? Shopping Centre Management. 

    Why did you join Civium? I joined Civium because of the opportunity to apply my people management and business development skills in an organisation with a strong brand in the ACT market.

    What is the most satisfying part of your job? Mentoring and working with a fabulous team of dedicated people. 

    Outside of work, what is the thing that most interests you? Good food and wine.  

  • Kelly Reeves
    Strata Manager

    What did you do before you arrived at Civium? I was a Responsive Works Manager for Spotless working on the Housing ACT Contract.  This role involved managing a team of supervisors and managing upwards of 800 work orders per month across 12,000 properties.  This role required me to work within budgets and to ensure works were completed on time include the restoration of vacant properties and the completion of disability modification as well as large scale responsive works.

    Why did you join Civium? After working the Housing industry for the past 10 years I wanted a change and a better work life balance.  Joining Civium was unexpected career change and one that I am very grateful for.

    What is the most satisfying part of your job? I enjoy being able to assist an owner to the best of my ability and know that I have provided that person or committee with the highest level of customer service to ensure they want to continue to work with me and Civium as a whole.

    Outside of work, what is the thing that most interests you? I am currently working on my certificate IV in celebrancy which I hope to have completed in the next six months at which point I look forward to being able to marry couples and share in the naming day of babies.

    What did you do before you arrived at Civium? I worked in Property Management in Sydney

    Why did you join Civium? Having moved from Sydney I wanted to get out of Property Management and explore a different challenge.

    What is the most satisfying part of your job? I love the sense of community that I share with my fellow colleagues and the level of support that is provided by Civium Strata. 

    Outside of work, what is the thing that most interests you? I love exploring and trying new things so travel is always essential.

    What did you do before you arrived at Civium? I worked in the marketing and communications space for a number of years in both public and private sectors. Most recently prior to joining Civium Strata People, I was working in Florence, Italy as a tour guide.

    Why did you join Civium? To be part of a great team at an even better time.

    What is the most satisfying part of your job? Finding out that our clients are happy!

    Outside of work, what is the thing that most interests you? I love being active and getting outdoors with family and friends.

    What did you do before you arrived at Civium? I have worked in property for about 13 years including Strata, Sales and Property Management. I am a registered agent as well as have my Certificate IV in Property for Strata. I lived in the ACT for 23 years and have just returned from living in Melbourne for 9 years.

    Why did you join Civium? I joined Civium because they had one of the most impressive profiles in strata in the ACT.

    What is the most satisfying part of your job? Achieving something that seems impossible.

    Outside of work, what is the thing that most interests you? Music, as I do some djing.

    What did you do before you arrived at Civium? Before working at Civium I worked at another strata company called STM.

    Why did you join Civium? I was given an opportunity to broaden my knowledge and implement and set up a department which is working very successfully now.

    What is the most satisfying part of your job? I love been able to help all owners with their queries in relation to repairs and maintenance.

    Outside of work, what is the thing that most interests you? Spending time with my family and friends, spending time outdoors exercising, dancing and shopping.

    What did you do before you arrived at Civium? Prior to working for Civium Strata I was a Project Manager in the Commercial Lighting Industry.  Before this I was working as a Conveyancing Clerk for a local solicitor.  This is where my passion for property and real estate came about.

    Why did you join Civium? After seeing my youngest child enter high school I thought it was time for a change and time to focus on ME time and my career.  I completed my real estate certificate in the ACT and whilst studying I was made aware of Ray White Canberra looking for staff, after speaking with the team I was offered a position in Strata.  I started in March 2014 as an Associate and within a few months I was offered a portfolio of my own.  This has been both challenging but rewarding.

    What is the most satisfying part of your job? I enjoy assisting owners and the ongoing maintenance of the buildings I manage.
    Outside of work, what is the thing that most interests you?

    Outside of work, what is the thing that most interests you? Outside of work I love spending time with my two children who are growing up too fast.  My partner and I enjoy watching the kids play sport and then the small amount of time between sport and being taxi is spent trying to relax, go for walks or catch up on some favorite TV shows.

    Outside of work, what is the thing that most interests you? Playing Social Cricket and CPD.

    What did you do before you arrived at Civium? Before working at Civium I worked at Eagle Real Estate in Holland Park, Brisbane.  I was an Assistant to the Body Corporate Manager.

    Why did you join Civium? I joined Civium Strata People due to a move to Canberra and an interest in perusing a career in Strata Management.

    What is the most satisfying part of your job? The most satisfying part of my job is knowing that I am helping to make positive changes and helping owners with ongoing issues around their complex.  It is always satisfying to have an owner call you and thank you for the help that you have provided.  That’s what keeps me doing my job.

    Outside of work, what is the thing that most interests you? As we are quite new to Canberra and as my children are young, we love to get out and explore Canberra.  We also love to go camping and enjoy being outdoors.

    What did you do before you arrived at Civium? I was a lucky enough to spend 3 years at home raising my daughter.

    Why did you join Civium? I liked the challenging role of Strata Manager and felt that the company would be a great match for me.

    What is the most satisfying part of your job? I really enjoy the highly personal levels of customer service that we provide to our clients.

    Outside of work, what is the thing that most interests you? I love making the most of my spare time with sports, anything fun and being with friends and family.

    What did you do before you arrived at Civium? I started off as a Strata Manager back in 1999 managing small and large prestigious buildings. Over the course of several years held several senior positions last of which was General Manager Group Operations at a large Sydney/Northern NSW Strata Management firm.

    Why did you join Civium? The vision, the culture and journey of being part of a successful and expanding organisation.

    What is the most satisfying part of your job? The people engagement (staff/clients) and having completed a task, objective, project to the satisfaction of the client or beyond their expectations. Building on systems, processes and efficiencies. Building teams and a creating a supportive culture.

    Outside of work, what is the thing that most interests you? My family and spending quality time with my wife Chantel and three children, Nevaeh, Shia and Whisper. Sport, Rugby League, Soccer…anything sport related.

    What did you do before you arrived at Civium? I entered the strata industry directly from College education at the tender age of 18.

    What is the most satisfying part of your job? Training and mentoring staff, monitoring their progression and proudly assisting with their ongoing development.

    Outside of work, what is the thing that most interests you? Golf, fishing and basically anything outdoor related!
