For many ACT strata owners, their property will form part of a mixed-use area, where residential real estate rubs shoulders with commercial and industrial sites. Projects like these are the focal point of a new urban planning overhaul from the ACT government which means you’ll want to pay attention to incoming adjustments.
A quieter future?
Among the proposed goals for the urban planning overhaul was a focus on noise – especially where residential property is concerned.
“Managing the needs of different community members in mixed-use areas is a challenge, including managing noise in places that house many people in close proximity to each other and to commercial and entertainment precincts,” wrote minister for planning Mick Gentleman.
Submissions are now being taken on how to best address noise issues in mixed-use areas, which might be music to the ears of strata owners in existing zones like this. Whether it is better soundproofing or an adjustment to when retail centres can operate, it’s time to put your good ideas to the government!
If you live in strata where noise can become an issue, now’s a great opportunity for you. Get in touch with Civium Strata or the territory government to find out more!
